We hold the wine we sell
Unlike eBay style auctions, Langton’s holds the wine it sells. Stock is physically
located in our cellars in Melbourne and Sydney and individually checked by Langton's
expert staff before sale at Auction or on the Exchange. You can personally inspect
any wine for sale at Langton’s Melbourne and Sydney cellars by appointment. When
Langton’s believes the cellaring is of a high standard, from time to time we sell
wine that is cellared by third parties. Currently this applies only to wines listed
on our Wine Exchange as Heritage Exchange wines.
How our Auctions work
Langton’s award winning auction technology has set a new standard for online wine
auctions. You place your bids then follow an auction in real time increasing your
bids as you choose. We hold a new auction about every two weeks.
How our Exchange works
Langton’s Exchange caters for buyers wanting their wine at a fixed price and available
for immediate delivery or pick up. The Exchange trades in cases only and is open
year-round.
Buyer’s premium
The Buyer’s Premium is Langton’s charge on the wine you buy. Currently it is 15%
incl. GST. It is added to all successful bids at Auction at the close of auction.
You only pay the Buyer’s Premium if you are the successful bidder. On the Exchange
it is added in your shopping cart to the case price of the wine you are buying when
you check your wine out.
Keeping you informed
Another feature unique to buying at Langton’s is the wine information available
to you, right down to the particular bottle or case you are interested in. To help
you make informed buying decisions we have placed all Langton’s wine information
resources at your disposal online. They put you in charge.
– The Market
In The Market section of this site you can find detailed information on each of
the wines in Langton’s Classification as well as the latest market analysis and
information on the leading Emerging and Cult Wines.
– Wine Tools
In the Wine Tools section is perhaps our most popular tool for buyers. Established
in the late 1980s, Langton’s has a unique database that records and tracks the auction
price movement of over 15,000 individual wines. Updated after every sale, this database
is now available online. Go to Wine Tools/Price Guide.
In the Wine Tools section you can also see Langton’s Australian Fine Wine Index,
read the latest reviews of Australia’s leading wine regions and wineries, check
vintage reports for over 700 vintages and sample tasting notes for over 1,500 wines.
– Point of sale information
When you buy at Langton’s we also provide you with a set of information icons that
give you point of sale information about the specific bottle or case you are interested
in. Click on our Note, i popup and Classification icons which appear throughout
our Auction and Exchange wine listings. They are there to inform you – make the
most of them!
