Stewart Langton
General Manager
Specialist Wine Auctioneer
In what was considered a risky venture at the time, Stewart founded Langton's Fine
Wine Auctions in Melbourne in 1988. The following year Andrew Caillard MW joined
him and together they established Langton's Sydney. In 1990 Christie's, the world's
largest wine auctioneers, formed a unique business alliance with Langton's.
Stewart has earned a reputation as an innovator in the Australian wine industry.
He has fostered a national fine wine market, introduced the silent bid auction to
Australia and, with the release of Langton's successive Classifications of Australian
wine, nurtured the growing recognition of Australian fine wine as among the world's
best.
Langton's was founded with a clear long-term goal - to become a great antipodean
fine wine auction and investment house. The launch in 2002 of www.langtons.com.au
is another milestone in this direction. Stewart has overseen the transformation
of Langton's into an e-commerce business capable of trading on the international
stage.
