We hold the wine we sell

Unlike eBay style auctions, Langton’s holds the wine it sells. Stock is physically located in our cellars in Melbourne and Sydney and individually checked by Langton's expert staff before sale at Auction or on the Exchange. You can personally inspect any wine for sale at Langton’s Melbourne and Sydney cellars by appointment. When Langton’s believes the cellaring is of a high standard, from time to time we sell wine that is cellared by third parties. Currently this applies only to wines listed on our Wine Exchange as Heritage Exchange wines.

How our Auctions work

Langton’s award winning auction technology has set a new standard for online wine auctions. You place your bids then follow an auction in real time increasing your bids as you choose. We hold a new auction about every two weeks.

There are two ways to find out how our Auctions work in detail. You can click on Help at the top of your screen and select Auctions in the list of topics. Or, if you prefer an interactive tour, please click on Help and then select Tour.

How our Exchange works

Langton’s Exchange caters for buyers wanting their wine at a fixed price and available for immediate delivery or pick up. The Exchange trades in cases only and is open year-round.

Like our Auctions, there are two ways to find out how our Exchange works in detail. You can click on Help at the top of your screen and select Exchange in the list of topics. Or, if you prefer an interactive tour, please click on Help and then select Tour.

Buyer’s premium

The Buyer’s Premium is Langton’s charge on the wine you buy. Currently it is 15% incl. GST. It is added to all successful bids at Auction at the close of auction. You only pay the Buyer’s Premium if you are the successful bidder. On the Exchange it is added in your shopping cart to the case price of the wine you are buying when you check your wine out.

Keeping you informed

Another feature unique to buying at Langton’s is the wine information available to you, right down to the particular bottle or case you are interested in. Buying At Langton's

"Langton’s is in the business of selling wine but provides great info on many of Australia’s top wines… And best of all, it’s free." Jeni Port, The Age

"What makes www.langtons.com.au so revolutionary is the way it has integrated technology with content. The electronic catalogue is linked through a system of pop-ups to provide buyers with winery and regional reviews, tasting notes and price history." Michael Reid, The Weekend Australian

"Langton's great and undeniable contribution to Australian wine has been the credibility it has generated for the entire industry through the way it has presented, marketed and sold its better products. Langton's success has much to do with the respect afforded Australian wine wherever quality wine is enjoyed. Through the presentation of catalogues created at unforeseen and unimaginably high levels of production, through a credible service to those looking to seriously invest in Australian wine, through its association with the Penfolds Red Wine Clinic and Penfolds' The Rewards of Patience publications, Langton's has been instrumental in developing a culture of trading wine outside conventional retail markets."
Jeremy Oliver, Wine Magazine
