Heirloom vineyards is the venture of husband and wife duo Zar and Elena Brooks. Inspired to make wines using Old World techniques, the couple established Heirloom in 2004, sourcing fruit from unique old vineyards in South Australia planted with the best clones, in the best sites. Elena is the winemaker and viticultural practices follow organic and biodynamic principles. Heirloom vineyards produce a range of wines including Adelaide Hills Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay Pinot Noir and Tempranillo, Barossa Valley Shiraz, Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon, Eden Valley Riesling and Shiraz and Fleurieu Peninsula Cabernet Sauvignon.

<p>One of the new super-stars of the Loire Valley, Damien Laureau now has nearly 20 vintages of experience behind him. Starting in the mid 90&rsquo;s working with his uncle in the Anjou near St Gemmes, he has since bought and rented several prime parcels in the small Savennieres appellation including a tiny parcel of the prime Roche aux Moines vineyard. Today his with very small family holdings Damien farms a total of just 8.5 hectares ensuring he can grow the best possible quality from these vineyards.</p> <p>Working organically in the vineyards he harvests by hand making successive tries throughout each vineyard ending with yields that are much lower than the AOC rules. He vinifies with natural yeasts and with very low levels of sulfites in the cellar also lets the wines pass through malolactic fermentation giving stability to the wines without compromising the freshness and minerality so typical of this appellation. Larry Cherubino’s aim is to make ‘uniquely West Australian wines of great depth, detail and purity, true to their provenance’. Grapes come mainly from Great Southern and its Porongurup and Frankland River sub-regions, Pemberton and Margaret River, for Ad Hoc, The Yard, Pedestal, Laissez Faire and the flagship Cherubino label. Cherubino was a Gourmet Traveller Winemaker of the Year finalist in 2003 and 2009. He had a high-profile even before starting Larry Cherubino Wines in 2005, having held senior roles at Hardy’s Tintara in South Australia and Houghton in Western Australia. <p><strong> Chateau Calon-Segur</strong></p> <p>With its name enclosed in a heart on the label, Chateau Calon-S&eacute;gur is a third-growth estate (3&egrave;me Cru Class&eacute;) in Saint-Est&egrave;phe and the M&eacute;doc&rsquo;s northernmost classified growth. Today it comprises 74 hectares of vineyards; 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc, planted on gravel-sand and gravel-limestone-clay soils. Under new ownership since the 2012 vintage, Calon-S&eacute;gur has increased its use of new oak in the Grand Vin to impart greater richness and texture. As well as its Grand Vin, the estate produces a second wine, Marquis de Calon.</p>
