Week in Review 05-04-19
Friday, April 5, 2019 in Review
This is the last weekend before a tidy run of holidays, the last days in which to enjoy some additional evening daylight, and your last chance to drink Lindeman's Hunter Shiraz. For the months ahead? Begin with the brilliant 98-Point Bordeaux below, see the best of Margaret and Napa, and end, as is always a good idea, with Champagne.
Bordeaux 2015s On Song
En Primeur looms large, and our buying team are at this minute on the ground in Bordeaux. And while we wait for the 2018 releases? We present a trio of 2015s - already in bottle, already in country, and just re-tasted by Huon Hooke, with verdicts far surpassing their price tags. Reacquaint yourself with long-lived excellence in red.
Vasse Felix Tom Cullity
Margaret River 2015
Global release 1st of May, yours to access now.
Formerly labelled the ‘Heytesbury’, the Vasse Felix flagship is firmly entrenched within both the Langton's Classification and the Margaret River pantheon of greats. Secure your allocation of New World Cabernet excellence.
Last Call: Lindeman's Hunter Shiraz
All great things must end. This 1400 series (vintage 2014) is the last in a proud line. There will be no 1500s.
From the brilliant entry-level Shiraz at $15 (in a six), through the two single-vineyard offerings, do not miss the last of these iconic
Hunter Valley reds.
Access New Vintages: Torbreck
Torbreck is one of only a rarefied few makers to boast multiple entries in the Langton’s Classification. This week we raised the curtain on their new generation of reds - a tour de force in Barossa Shiraz and its blending compatriots.
Discover the portfolio, from the $38 ‘Steading’ through the utterly brilliant (Classified ‘Outstanding’ ) ‘Descendant’.
Napa Valley 2015
Also released this week: one of only a handful of New World Cabernets that can be uttered in the same sentence as the First Growths of Bordeaux. The 2015 has sold out, but we still have a small allocation remaining of the 98-Point 2014. This is a Napa Valley great that will live an eternity.
Excellence in Champagne
Lastly for the weekend - the relaunch of one of our most fiercely sought-after houses Champenois. Led by our newly acquired allocation of the Grand Cru Brut Reserve, taste finery at every price point from Vazart-Coquart.
Remember too, (with ANZAC Day Two-Up and a long weekend approaching) that we can play both sides of the coin here at Langton's. Buying at Auction can be an excellent way to find that fine-and-rare gem, but do also explore the option of selling. The top three reasons to sell? Read them here.
