A supremely traditional expression of Cornas, dark fruit meets tar and deep minerality in the Tardieu-Laurent Vieilles Vignes Cornas. The tannins are tightly wound and elegant, with a long, lingering and intense finish. Velvety tannins complete the picture. This is bold, classic Cornas, best enjoyed with red meat.
As one of the leading négociants in the Rhône, Maison Tardieu-Laurent have access to some of the most established old vines in the region. Tardieu-Laurent handpick the producers whose fruit finds its way into all of their wines, thus producing exemplary expressions of Rhône terroir at all tiers.
"Much more intense and direct than the Coteaux bottling. Very round with extremely well-managed tannins. Yet it communicates the wildness of the appellation. A baby, with animal hints and a tarry finish. Not for the uninitiated."

"Inky purple. Expansive aromas of ripe dark berries, Indian spices and violet, along with a suave, smoky mineral overtone. Fleshy, densely packed blackberry and blueberry flavors show excellent clarity and pungent floral and cracked pepper qualities. Finishes extremely long and sweet, offering solid thrust, velvety tannins and a note of candied dark berries."

"Possessing more fat, richness and breadth than the Cuvee Coteaux, the 2015 Cornas Vieilles Vignes boasts a deep, saturated purple color with notes of blueberries, ripe black cherries, asphalt, crushed rock and licorice. This is a big, decadent beauty that has lots of baby fat, but also building, ripe tannin, excellent mid-palate depth and a great finish. Forget bottles for 5-6 years and enjoy over the following decade."
