Crawford River’s Nektar Riesling is a botrytis wine from one of Victoria’s most celebrated Riesling producers.
Botrytised grapes are treated separately to the whole bunch fruit. When finally pressed together, magic is made. Grapefruit, rich marmalade and ripe yellow peach are layered on the palate, making it a pleasure for drinking. A succulent sweetness is balanced against a line of fine, poised acidity. Sweet, but never cloying, it finishes long with remarkable freshness.
"A year of great concentration, the botrytised portion of the grapes picked at 21 degrees baume, some hand-picked to shallow bins and stomped for an overnight cold soak, combined the following morning with whole bunch fruit, racking/cold settling followed before very slow fermentation for months until bottling in Oct. A very beautiful wine, intensely fruity, intensely structured and exceptionally long. Its clean, fresh aftertaste is remarkable."

2020 Halliday Wine Companion Awards Winner: Best Sweet Wine
"Mid-yellow colour with a honeyed, lime and lemon citrus fruit aromas, with some buttered toast nuances starting up. The wine is crisp and refined, intense and lively with spritely acidity cutting through the substantial sweetness. There are some bitter peel phenolics, which help to dry and cleanse the finish and aftertaste. A superb wine, which has the backbone to cope with quite hearty foods, eg. cheeses."

HentySituated 300 km west of Melbourne in Southwestern Victoria, Henty was named after the first family to settle in Victoria in the 1800’s. The region was pioneered in 1964 by Karl Seppelt, who recognized that the cool climate was ideal for the production of sparkling and aromatic wines. The Seppelts planted 100 hectares at Drumborg in 1964 and this was followed by Crawford River in 1975. The long, gentle autumn ripening period allows the retention of both acid and aromatics crucial for Henty’s flagship variety, Riesling.
