Craggy Range’s flagship wine from a vintage that has been hailed as “once in a lifetime”. Made from 100% syrah the style has evolved since 1991 from blockbuster to become more far more elegant although certainly not lacking power. It is dense without being heavy. Tightly packed flavours including dark berry, Oriental spices, oak and a suggestion of floral characters are gradually displayed and will continue to be revealed as the wine ages. A truly classic Le Sol.

Very deep, youthful red/purple colour and a spicy, clovey, typical Gimblett Gravels almond note. It's tight and firm in the mouth, with elegance and extra length. The ample tannins are soft, fleshy and beautifully integrated. It's not as peppery as some vintages. A very stylish, polished wine.

Perfumed but coiled tight. Peppery and boysenberried with sweet, jellied cherry giving it a bright, succulent appeal. Herb and spice notes make savouriness as much of its shtick as sweetness/fruitiness. Firm, gravelly, peppery tannin aplenty. For all its come hither character it’s not a lot of fun now; it needs a handful of years in a cool, dark place. It was more impressive at the tasting bench than it was on the couch; time rather than tv the password to its power.

Made from 100% Syrah, the barrel sample of the 2013 Le Sol has a very deep purple-black color. It was slightly reduced at this primordial stage with rubbery hints somewhat masking the gorgeous black cherry and black berry aromas with some pepper and tar nuances. It offers quite a lot of elegance and lovely rounded tannins, bursting with pepper and spice in the long finish.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2013 Le Sol (Syrah) has a very pretty nose of violets and red roses over a core of red and black cherries plus hints of cinnamon stick and star anise. Light to medium-bodied, the palate is beautifully crafted with elegant, perfumed red fruits supported by ripe, rounded tannins. It finishes with great length.
