It’s around 30% Eden Valley and 70% Barossa Valley. Around 10% new oak. Shiraz on show. Malt and smoke whiffs, dark chocolate, dark berries, sniff of figs and dates, high-toned floral character too. Moody, dark start to the wine. Structure and sandy tannins take the wine long in the mouth, misses some stuffing, but has a feel of plum and prune fruit regardless. Finishes with sandy pucker. Feels a bit lacking in composure right now, but wait for it to mellow anyway. 90+ points, Mike Bennie (winefront.com.au).
