Intense, complex and powerful, Domaine du Pegau’s Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Reservée is a blend of 80% Grenache, 6% Syrah, 4% Mourvèdre and 10% other permitted varieties. The grapes are manually harvested, crushed with no destemming and fermented in concrete tanks for 10 days before undergoing maturation in large 30-50hL old foudres for two years.

Region Chateauneuf-du-Pape

The most famous appellation of the region with a history of viticulture dating back to 1308, Châteauneuf-du-Pape is renowned for producing complex, spicy, full-bodied red wines of power and concentration. Up to 18 different varieties can be employed to make wine in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, but the vast majority of the red wine blends are still dominated by varying proportions of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. The greatest wines of the appellation can cellar for well over two decades. A smaller amount of complex, fuller bodied white wine, blended from Grenache Blanc, Rousanne, Clairette and Bourboulenc is also made.

Domaine du Pegau

Domaine du Pegau is a family owned wine producer in Châteauneuf-du Pape. The domaine farms 72 hectares of vineyards including 21.5 ha in the Châteauneuf appellation spread over 11 separate parcels. Organically farmed, the vineyards are located on the famous “pudding stones” and alluvial gravels, clay, sand and limestone of the flat river plain. Most famous for their prestige Cuvée da Capo made only in exceptional years, the domaine also produces several premium red Châteauneuf du Pape wines alongside a highly regarded white offering from the appellation.
