Still pale straw-green; this wine is not five years old, it is five years young. It's just starting to build the lime marmalade on buttered toast flavours of full maturity coming another five, perhaps 10, years down the track. However, it will always have a delicate disposition.

Old vines, meticulous winemaking and bottle age has created a spectacular wine that deserves a place in every serious wine lover's cellar. It has incredible depth of flavour with lime and lemon curd nuances. It is rich yet refreshing and holds one's interest over many glasses. Highly recommended. Drink to 2032.

The vines were planted in 1965 and the wine is always released at five years old. The bouquet is big and expressive, with lots of toastiness just veering into kerosene, which sounds less appealing than it actually is. The palate is full, rich and strong... and there's a slight grip which is not a fault but adds backbone...
