Plush, creamy and supple, the 2015 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Etienne Gonnet is a lovely, elegant wine. Cherries and cocoa powder elements are joined by ample spice on the long, intense finish. While already approachable, it should drink well for 15 years or more.

Aged for 18 months in foudres and barriques. Deep ruby. Pungent red and dark berry aromas unfold slowly with air, picking up suave floral and Indian spice nuances. Stains the palate with appealingly sweet, densely packed black raspberry and rose pastille flavors, becoming spicier and more energetic with air. Shows outstanding depth as well as vivacity and finishes with smooth, velvety tannins and an echo of sappy red fruit.

More fine, elegant and seamless, yet still with fabulous depth, the 2015 Châteauneuf du Pape Cuvée Etienne Gonnet is loaded with notions of jammy black raspberries, crushed flowers, peach pit and violets. Drink this full-bodied, seamless, ultra-pure 2015 over the coming decade or more.
