ELIO ALTARE Nebbiolo, Langhe
The Elio Altare Langhe Nebbiolo comes from the La Morra region. Only 650-700 dozen bottles are produced each year from vines planted between the 1970s and the late 1990s and farmed organically, but traditionally, on sandy, limestone-rich soils.
In the winery only indigenous yeasts are used and the wine is macerated on skins for 3-4 days in temperature-controlled rotary fermenters. It spends just five months in used French barriques before bottling without fining or filtration.
The Elio Altare Langhe Nebbiolo typically shows delicate, fresh aromas of rose petals and red fruits. Tannins are ripe and not too dry and the wine shows good acidity and intense, red-fruit flavours.
