about this product
Ad Hoc is one of the labels under which Larry Cherubino
pursues his mission to marry West Australian
wine regions with their ideal grape varieties and winestyles. His overall efforts won him James Halliday’s Winery of the Year award in 2011
and the Value Winery of the Year award in 2017. A guiding principle is to find ‘the path of least resistance’ – which leads naturally to optimisation of both quality and value for money.
This supple, spicy Shiraz is about drinking pleasure, pure and simple, yet it is also a wine of remarkable quality. It comes from vineyards in the Frankland River
part of the much larger Great Southern Region
. Grapes are hand-picked and sorted, then fermented in small batches. The wine matures for 6-8 months in French oak barrels, roughly one-third new, the rest two years old.
Typically, this Shiraz shows aromas of earth, ground black spice and dark berries. The palate presents fine, silky tannins, juicy fruit flavours of blueberry and dark cherry with undertones of spice. Such uncompromising methods and practices are not commonly applied to wines at this price-point. The Ad Hoc label is a beacon for quality and value.
