Bruno Colin La Truffiere 1er Cru, Puligny-Montrachet
While the soils are worked mechanically they are maintained using sustainable farming methods. The vines were planted in 1952 and 1987 and the Premier Cru Puligny-Montrachet plot is located near the very top of the hillside, just below Hameau de Blagny. The name ‘La Truffiere’ derives from the Truffe de Bourgogne or the Burgundian truffle. Prior to the vinous gold rush, the soils in this area suited the truffle. Truly blessed.
The grapes are picked and selected by hand before vinification. This is followed by 12 months on oak about a quarter of which are new barrels and this prior to three to six months in vats to maintain freshness and verve.
In the glass, you’ll find so much going on. Pure and precise, revealing pepperiness and oakiness over time. It’s full-bodied, smooth and rich on the palate showing great minerality and length.
Puligny Blancs have a distinguished bouquet of almond paste, ferns, tropical fruit, amber, and white flowers. Their discreet acidity leaves room for a very soft mouthfeel and an impressive long finish.
