Scented, spicy Pinot Noir with succulent plum and cherry flavours seasoned with a subtle savoury character. Silken textured red with a lingering finish. Deliciously accessible but with good cellaring potential. 95 points, Bob Campbell, MW (bobswinereviews.com).
It's a powerful, hedonistic style, but still has delightful freshness and definition. Sam Harrop, MW (Cuisine, NZ).
A very good ripe juicy Pinot. Good aromatics. Lovely potpourri aromas. A silky texture. Velvety and long with good, firm tannins, complexity and length. A lovely elegant wine... Kym Milne, MW, Chairman of Judges, Sydney International Wine Competition.
1 of 180: Lilac, ripe strawberry, dried thyme and mocha scents provide lift-off. Pure dark fruit flows seamlessly and silkily across the palate, enlivened by fresh acidity, and the finish is long and fine. Cuisine (NZ, May 2015).
Dark, deep, purple-hued ruby-red colour, a little lighter on rim. The nose is full and voluminous with harmoniously interwoven aromas of ripe dark red berry fruits, violet florals, dark red plums and oak spices that unfold in layers of detail and perfume. Medium-bodied, rich, ripe and succulent flavours of dark red berry fruits, plums and florals form a rich and deep core. Violet florals, licorice and spices emerge with very refined nuances of dark herbs, minerals and earth providing interest and complexity. The palate is silky and seamless, flowing smoothly, guided by very fine-grained tannins and acidity. This has great energy, poise and complete balance, carrying through to a very long, lingering finish of licorice and plums. This is an elegant, aromatic, fine-grained, silky-smooth Pinot Noir with succulently rich dark red fruit flavours. 19+/20, Raymond Chan (raymondchan.co.nz).
