"Fragrant blue flower, rose, new leather, cake spice and wild berry aromas set the tone on this classic Barolo. On the full-bodied, savoury palate, solid tannins wrap around a juicy cherry-raspberry core while notes of cinnamon and clove add depth. Drink 2019–2028."

The 2013 Barolo del Comune di Serralunga d'Alba is a reasonably priced Nebbiolo that, in this vintage, offers a superior sense of elegance and balance. The wine delivers thick lines and dark fruit flavours that wrap over the palate with rich intensity and length. Despite its youth, this new release delivers an immediate and accessible personality that makes it appropriate for near-term drinking.

Serralunga d’Alba. Just mid ruby with orange tinges. Firm nose with hints of dried fruit (which might be because its a tank sample). Lovely density of fruit on the palate yet surprisingly elegant. Medium bodied. Classic Serralunga tannic grip. Looks very promising. Long!

The winemaking philosophy is one of minimum intervention and maximum respect for the vineyard. No synthetic chemicals are used in the vineyards and the vine rows are planted with native grasses and legumes to keep the soil vital and reduce compaction.
Under Enrico’s leadership, Rivetto is going from strength to strength. The wine quality across the board is excellent and a No. 16 in the Wine Spectator Top 100 for the 2006 Barolo is testament to that.
From the vineyards surrounding the Loirano hill, Rivetto produces several crus of Barolo and Barbera d’Alba, along with Dolcetto and the exciting renascent native white, Nascetta. Rounding out the portfolio is a rare Barolo Chinato and a Grappa di Nebbiolo da Barolo.
