Intense tropical/malty oak with some meaty/fruit sweet/consomme complexity. Rich tropical malty oak, fine grained - rather sinewy -- tannins and plenty of fruit sweetness, finishing firm. Oak-driven wine. Andrew Caillard, MW, Langton's (2002).
…a marvellously fine, elegant and fragrant bouquet featuring perfectly ripened cassis redcurrant fruit. The palate does not disappoint, being equally elegant and fine, particularly the absolutely beautiful tannins and gentle oak. It is fascinating to see how the fruit in the wine has soaked up the new oak. 94 points, Wine Companion (1999).
