Roberto Voerzio is one of the stars of Piedmont, with a world-wide following and near mythical status. His vineyard management is meticulous, with each vine treated individually as parents treat their children. This attention to details sees him among the vines throughout the season, green harvesting, pruning, and leaf thinning which, together with high planting density, result in dramatically reduced yields -- the lowest in the region (a maximum of 1kg per vine for Il Ceretto). This wine, first made in 2003, typically has aromas of black cherries, plum skin, hints of mocha and warm leather. It is deep and savoury, with great length.
