The Pfalz is a region of Germany that produces the largest volume of wine due to its warm summer climate and higher cropping vines grown on rolling hills and plains. The region runs parallel to the Rhine river and has 22,00 ha of vineyards spanning 80 km with a wide range of soil types. While it produces a high volume of everyday Qualitätswein “Liebfraumilch” style wines, the Pfalz also produces high quality Riesling that is typically full bodied and dry with ripe fruit characters and signature chalky minerality. In addition to Riesling, the Pfalz also has significant plantings of Müller-Thurgau, Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) and the popular German red variety Dornfelder.
