José Zuccardi Malbec, Valle De Uco, Mendoza
A blend of two grapes; Malbec and a little Cabernet Sauvignon, from two sites in the Uco Valley. The Malbec comes from Paraje Altamira and the Cabernet from Gualtallary both sites soaring over 1000m above sea level.
The concrete vats are filled via a gravity fed system where the juice is fermented with indigenous yeasts. Made to be more round and traditional in style, the José Zuccardi pays tribute winemaker Sebastián’s father.
"Medium ruby-red. Musky scents of currant, black raspberry, tobacco leaf, violet, liquorice and fresh herbs. Juicy, intense and quite suave, with refreshing bright acidity framing and lifting the ripe, generous currant, blackberry, liquorice, spice and herb flavours. Very sophisticated, pliant, dry-but-ripe wine with fine-grained, palate-saturating tannins and slowly mounting spicy persistence. This goes on and on in the mouth. A compellingly dense beauty."
