<p>MOOROODUC ESTATE Devil Bend Creek Pinot Noir, Mornington Peninsula</p> <p>Established in 1982 by Richard and Jill McIntyre, Moorooduc Estate was one of the early pioneers of Mornington Peninsula winemaking. The focus has always been on high-quality production, with a hands-on approach, minimal use of chemicals in the vineyards and minimum intervention in the winery. The varietal focus has always been on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay -- interpreted with a Burgundian sensibility. McIntyre was also an early exponent of natural-yeast fermentation. Moorooduc’s production is 5000-6000 dozen each year.</p> <p>Fruit for the Devil Bend Creek Pinot Noir is hand-harvested, 100% destemmed and fermented using only indigenous yeasts. Extended maceration and 10 months aging in older French oak ensures good varietal expression. The wine is typically plush and juicy, showing dark fruit characters and a rich perfume of violets and dark cherries. Exotic notes add complexity to both nose and palate and the tannins are firm but silky.</p>

The Mornington Peninsula is located approximately one hour south of Melbourne. A cool maritime climate,the region is virtually frost free, but is susceptible to high winds. Rainfall is moderate, throughout winter and the growing season. Most of the vineyards are located between just above sea level and 200 metres. Soils range from weathered volcanic soils to sandy loams and friable well-drained clays. Mornington Peninsula is best known for making elegant cool climate Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and sublime Pinot Noir.

Langton’s Selections Moorooduc Estate The Moorooduc Chardonnay, Moorooduc Estate The Moorooduc Pinot Noir Moorooduc Estate is one of the Mornington Peninsula's oldest working wineries and is located in the warmer, drier climes of the northern sub region. Established by medico Richard McIntyre in 1982, it comprises 12 acres of vineyard planted to Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. At one stage the ambitions of this rather beautiful Estate were very ambitious but it has settled back into a more comfortable focus on top end wines and the whole wine & food lifestyle. The Derill Road Vineyard provides fruit for the reserve style wines, The Moorooduc Chardonnay and The Moorooduc Pinot Noir. Both wines are made in Burgundian fashion. The Chardonnay is lightly whole bunch pressed and fermented, with indigenous yeasts, in a combination of new (50%) and seasoned French oak barriques.
