Garagiste make stunning and astonishingly expressed single vineyard wines from a selection of impressive sites across Mornington. The Terre de Feu Pinot Noir is their flagship wine. Concentrated and intense, it is made with 100% whole bunch Pinot to best capture the terroir of a select parcel within the Merricks Grove vineyard.
Made in incredibly limited quantities, this is a meticulously crafted serious, savoury Pinot. This cuvée spends more time on oak than any other Garagiste wine. There’s smoke, spice, and meatiness on the palate, finishing with herbaceous notes and luscious black fruit. The finish is long, with firm tannins completing the picture.
The Mornington Peninsula is located approximately one hour south of Melbourne. A cool maritime climate, the region is virtually frost free, but is susceptible to high winds. Rainfall is moderate, throughout winter and the growing season. Most of the vineyards are located between just above sea level and 200 metres. Soils range from weathered volcanic soils to sandy loams and friable well-drained clays. Mornington Peninsula is best known for making elegant cool climate Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and sublime Pinot Noir.
