Not your average Sauvignon Blanc Semillon, Picardy’s blend of 85% Sauvignon Blanc and 15% Semillon is co-fermented (unlike most versions that are simply blended prior to bottling) 50% in stainless steel barrels and 50% in oak (30% of which is new ) and is matured for 9 months on lees. The Boisé is a gently textured and seamless wine with ripe yet crunchy, vibrant fruit and mouth-watering acidity adding up to a wine that is great with food wine but will still be looking good in the short to medium term.
Medium yellow colour, with some viscosity. The bouquet is complex and extremely alluring: nutty, rich and stone-fruited with a lanolin-like overlay. Spicy oak touches. The sauvignon fruit is clearly discernible but not overpowering. The wine is mouth-filling and rich, with some oiliness of texture but also enlivening acidity. A burst of honey, too. Crisp and refreshing, taut and long. A really smart Bordeaux style.

The oak influence is well played here with aromas of grilled hazelnuts and spiced pears, as well as hints of herbs, gravel and grass. There’s attractive, ripe-peach and papaya flavor with spiced-biscuit and toasted-hazelnut notes to close. Complex and delicious.
