Langton's Tour of Tuscany Collection

This collection of six wines is a taste tour of Tuscany. You can explore these producers and, through them, one of the most captivating regions in the world for history, culture and wine. For those familiar with our Tuscany portfolio, Casanova Di Neri will need no introduction. With each new vintage, our brokers secure allocations for their clients and the list of devotees continues to grow.

Andrew Caillard MW believes that should Podere San Cristoforo continue on its path there’s no reason it can’t be “the next Sassicaia or Ornellaia.” De Vinosalvo has connections closer to home with Australian winemaker Alison Jane Hodder. She has brought a little bit of McLaren Vale to Italy with her Auspicium Sangiovese Shiraz. If a cacciatore is on the menu, and really it should be, your hunt is over for perfect red wine to serve.

The case also contains a 2012 Brunello di Montalcino from Poggio Antico which Monica Larner of Robert Parker describes as ‘a delightful wine with easy-drinking appeal and lots of energy and personality locked within.’ There’s also a 100% Sangiovese from Podere Il Carnasciale, makers of the cult wine Il Caberlot and a Chianti Classico from perennial overachievers Nunzi Conti.

Region Tuscany

The picturesque region of Tuscany produces some of the greatest food wines in the world that offer a richness and complexity with Franceuit and savoury characters attributable to the noble Sangiovese grape variety. This 58,000 ha region is dominated by Sangiovese of various clones and classifications with the most famous being Chianti, Chianti Classico, Brunello di Montalcino, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, as well as the “Super Tuscans” usually based on Sangiovese with various amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot or Syrah in the blend. Tuscany enjoys a warm Mediterranean climate that provides ideal ripening conditions. Red wines dominate with 70% of production and 60% is of DOC or DOCG status. The complex and rich white wine Vernaccia di San Gimignano and the Vin Santo dessert wines made in the Passito, dried grape method are other specialties of the region.
