The 2011 Etna Rosso Rovittello is 90% Nerello Mascalese and 10% Nerello Cappuccio fermented on native yeasts and aged in neutral oak for 12 months...The wine opens to a medium ruby hue with copper highlights. But no intensity is lost on the bouquet. This is a tonic and sprightly red wine with lingering tones of wild berry, spice and grilled herb. Rovittello is a area of Etna near Castiglione di Sicilia on the north side of the volcano.

A fresh, well-balanced red, with a streak of pronounced minerality driving the flavors of wild cherry, red licorice, spice box and strawberry. The juicy finish shows lightly chewy tannins.
