Benanti are producers of some of the finest Sicilian wines. The family’s involvement with viticulture dates back to the late 1800’s.The original vineyards were planted on family farms on the slopes of Mount Etna. More recently the family have acquired sites on the Island of Pantelleria and Pachino south of the Etna DOC region. The Mount Etna DOC is based on the high mineral volcanic soils and is well suited to many Sicilian varietals including the white Carricante and reds Nerello Mascalese and Nero d’Avola. Benanti produces wines under the DOC Etna, DOC Etna Superiore, Sicily IGT and DOC Moscato Passito di Pantelleria.
