Fresh and focused, with a panoply of flavour – ripe fruit notes of mango, tangy quince and tangerine, joined by a minerally sublayer of smoke, stone and spice. This shows firm structure and intensity… the overall juiciness of the acidity makes it very appealing…
92 points, Wine Spectator.
Ripe pear and white peach on the fragrant nose, with complicating notes of honey, buttered toast, jasmine and iodine building in the glass. Supple and broad in the mouth, offering juicy pit and orchard fruit flavours and a bracing jolt of bitter orange zest. Finishes on a leesy note, with excellent thrust and lingering florality.
93 points, Josh Raynolds, International Wine Cellar.
...a gorgeous wine laced with minerals, graphite, crushed rocks and bright, citrus fruit… graceful, elegant wine… floats on the palate in a focused, beautifully delineated style. The finish is exceptionally elegant and refined. This is superb juice…
91 points, Robert Parker.
"Delicious fruit cocktail, creepers, grapefruit, lime, green apricots, the fruit remains focused and exceptionally juicy; medium-weight, expressive Riesling classic."
90 points from Falstaff Wein Guide 2017/2018
"The slightly curious nose mixes reduction and floral aromas. On the plus side there is an excellent sense of underlying tension and detail to the utterly delicious medium-bodied flavours that possess a caressing mouthfeel, all wrapped in a sleek, focused, complex and well-balanced finale… classy villages… should drink well early. Outstanding."

"Carillon describes the 2014s as round wines with good fruit. ‘The pHs are a bit too high for a great year, but it's really a lovely vintage, except for the hail’, he told me at the beginning of June, adding that the year reminded him of 2005. Grape sugars were in the high 12.7% to 13.4% range and Carillon did not chaptalize his wines. Carillon now exploits 14 hectares of vines, of which he owns seven… Pale bright yellow. Highly aromatic nose combines peach, ginger and quinine. Rich, sweet and nicely concentrated, with a ripe peach flavour complicated by saline minerality and a toasty note from the 10% new oak. Carillon owns five hectares of village vines in Puligny-Montrachet; he blended this wine at the beginning and has 120 barrels of this juice. A lovely village wine in the making."
89-91 points, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous (9/15)
"Pale yellow. Cool white peach and lemon zest aromas are complicated by a smoky nuance and a hint of minerality. Ripe, pliant and harmonious, conveying an impression of power to its yellow peach and spice flavours."
87-89 points, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous (9/2016).
"Very typical Martinborough pinot noir with black-fleshed plum, dark berry, a hint of spice, anise and a seasoning of subtle oak. Impressive purity and energy. An elegant wine that should develop well in bottle. Drink 2017 to 2023"
95 points, Bob Campbell (9/2017)
