Matured in American Oak refill casks, the Port Ellen 1979 bottling is lighter than most of the distillery’s offerings. Sweet fruit builds to a smoky crescendo. 2,988 bottles have been produced—allocations are, thus, extremely limited.
Named for the small town it is located in on the isle of Islay, Scotland, Port Ellen Distillery was founded in 1825. Production ceased in 1983. In 2017, it was announced that the Distillery will resume production in 2020.
