Uses 35% whole bunches on the bottom of the fermenter, 2% Viognier skins on top of the whole bunches, then 63% crushed/destemmed on top, left alone to ferment naturally until 2% baume left, then pigeaged, three weeks on skins in total, matured in new and used French oak for 18 months. This approach, coupled with 13.5% alcohol, results in a vibrantly fresh, fragrant and lively wine bursting with cherry fruit, spice and pepper. Now the journey in the bottle begins. Drink to 2035.

...the colour is very good, the bouquet and palate speaking volumes for the cool vintage with the length, complexity and intensity of the spicy red and black fruits. Spice, pepper and licorice are the usual flavours in cool-grown Shiraz, and they're here. Drink to 2037.

Estate-grown Shiraz from Clyde Park at Bannockburn in the Geelong region. This is a beauty. A cool climate beauty. It’s all spice and nuts, black/red cherries and smoky oak, everything pulling as a team, everything drawing you in. Both black and white pepper notes get an airing, as does a run of ultra-fine tannin. Is there a touch of spritz here? It almost feels as though there is, though it in no way detracts. It’s a gorgeous wine. Drink to 2032+

Deep, bright purple/red colour. The aromas are fresh and floral, fruit-driven and bright, a theme which continues on the palate. Subtle spice. It's medium to full-bodied and tightly-structured, with a little firmness, excellent richness and considerable overall elegance. The fruit is stylish and does most of the talking. A top Shiraz from this vineyard. Drink to 2032

There’s some nice freshness from the outset here on the nose, which is defined by aromas of blueberry essence, blackberry compote and citrus. Medium to full body, some nice grippy tannins, good acid drive and a medium-chewy finish. Drink in 2020.

It has all the appeal and vibrancy of youth with its dark red fruit, the lifted fragrance from 20% whole bunches in the ferment, the pepper, the gum leaves and the savoury tone. It's medium-bodied with ripe, finely-shaped tannins and raspberry-fresh acidity. Youth will give way to a more complex wine in a few years. That's life.

James Halliday’s Wine Companion, Winery of the Year 2019
It takes black cherry and plum flavours and injects them with peppered meats. It's a most attractive combination. Lines of herbs are blown through ribbons of tannin; the effect equally impressive. This release is on song. Drink to 2026.

Shiraz co-fermented with 1-2% Viognier 28-32C, the majority given post-fermentation maceration, 14 months in French barriques (30% new). There's a tarry nuance on the bouquet that is hard to pin down, but ties in with the naked power of the full-bodied palate, black cherry and blackberry fruit supported by potent, ripe tannins and oak. Drink to 2038.

Fruit off the Malakoff vineyard in the Pyrenees, this is concentrated and intense with an astonishing dark-purple colour and fragrance - a very good wine. Full-bodied, supple, plentiful tannins, some sweet-sour acid drops and loads of spicy fruit. Drink to 2025.

...Shiraz/Syrah from the hotbed Malakoff Vineyard in the Pyrenees… matured in 1200 litre (oval) foudres… offers a sizeable burst of sweet, concentrated fruit flavour. The bloom of ripe berried flavour here is significant. Spice, woodsmoke, peppercorn and floral characters all have a healthy say, as indeed does cedary oak, the latter beautifully integrated. Tannin is fine, ultra so… on pure wine quality terms you’d jump at this for sure. Drink to 2028.
