Complexity is at the core of Limelight—this is not your stock-standard Riesling. With unexpected notes of smoky pine and a whisper of spice, its backbone remains classic Central Otago Riesling.
This single-vineyard wine is hand-harvested at Bendigo, in Central Otago. Delicious now, the 2015 vintage was made in a medium style (34 grams/litre of residual sugar), with complexity gained by fermenting 22 per cent of the blend with indigenous yeasts in old French oak barrels. Light lemon/green, it is richly scented, with searching, citrussy, appley flavours, lovely sugar/acid balance and a lasting finish. Drink now or cellar. (Tasted in early 2018, the 2011 vintage (5*) is unfolding superbly, with a powerful surge of peachy, citrussy flavour, bottle-aged notes adding complexity, and a long, very harmonious finish.

Fresh, bright and varietal with aromas and flavours of crunchy red apple and lemon with sweet flowers and minerality, quite precise. Off-dry with a residual sweetness then immediately contrasted by fresh acidity, flavours of jasmine and white-fleshed fruits, lemon and a whisper of barely sugar. Lengthy finish, great balance. Drink now and through 2025.

Bright, even, light straw-yellow colour. The nose is very soft, gently harmonious and integrated with aromas of ripe citrus fruits, fragrant white and yellow florals, honeysuckle and suggestions of toasty development. This is very fresh and the aromatics build in depth and intensity with aeration. Medium in sweetness and light-medium bodied, the palate has beautifully presented flavours of mandarins, white and yellow florals and honeysuckle with mineral nuances. The mouthfeel has a refined unctuousness and delicate richness, with balancing fine acidity and gentle phenolic textures. The wine flows smoothly to a fine, floral and honied finish. This is a beautifully refined and harmoniously presented medium Riesling with subtly rich and lush citrus and honied flavours. Serve with Asian cuisine over the next 4+ years. Hand-picked fruit, WBP, 78% cool-fermented in stainless-steel , and 22% indigenous yeast fermented in seasoned French oak to 11.0% alc. and 34 g/L RS, TA 7.8 g/L and pH 3.0. 958 dozen made.
