A small region of 1,700 ha located in southern Provence, Bandol features steep terraced vineyards with sandy limestone soils. The region is one of the oldest in Franceance and is centered around a port that was pivotal to the early wine trade in the south of Franceance. Bandol has a warm to hot, sunny Mediterranean climate. The region is famous for producing ripe, spicy reds made Franceom predominantly Mourvèdre grapes blended with Grenache, Cinsault and Syrah. The more intense, rich, sturdy styles are very age-worthy, however, Bandol also produces many wines including dry, savoury rosé styles that can be enjoyed upon release.
