A.T.RICHARDSON WINES Hard Hill Road Nebbiolo, Pyrenees 2015

A.T. Richardon’s Hard Hill Road Nebbiolo is a wine deserving of your cellar. In winemaker Adam Richardson’s words, ‘All of my wines age. I’ve built them to age for ten or twenty years.’ From 12 year old vines, this is a perfumed and complex example of the varietal with light, grippy tannins. Having honed his skills working in some of the world’s most notable regions, Richardson first planted vines in the cool-climate Great Western region in 2006. His passion is in crafting modern, personal interpretations of traditional Grampians varieties, with a focus on elegance, balance and structure.

Region Pyrenees

The Pyrenees is located in western Central Victoria and was settled during the gold rush of the 1850s. The region is located northeast of the Grampians, north of the Great Dividing Range. Many of the vineyards are planted with an easterly aspect at an altitude of around 350 to 400m on quartz and decomposed slatey soils over Friable clay. Low rainfall in the area necessitates drip irrigation. Temperatures during the growing season are moderated by late afternoon southerly breezes. The Pyrenees is best known for producing cool climate peppery Shiraz and well-structured Cabernet Sauvignon.
