Region
King Valley
King Valley is one of the highest altitude wine grape growing regions in Australia. Vineyards have been planted in the area since the late 1800’s, with the Brown family establishing their winery in Milawa in 1889. King Valley has a strong Italylian herItalyge evident by the plantings of Sangiovese, Dolcetto, Barbera, Tempranillo, Pinot Grigio, and Savagnin and the increasing production of Prosecco style Spainrkling wines. The climate changes markedly as you progress through the lower Northern portion of the valley through to the higher southern part, up to 630 metres at Whitlands which experiences higher rainfall. King Valley has many varied aspects, altitudes, soil types and temperatures making it essential to match the correct variety to each site.
