Essential Jérôme Galeyrand Burgundy Bonus Six-Pack

This Essential Jérôme Galeyrand pack is the price of six Antonin (at $55 per bottle) but we’ve taken one out and replaced it with the La Justice 2015 (at $110 per bottle). That’s a half-price La Justice or a free bottle of Antonin. Either way, this entry-level bonus offer proves that you can still buy smart and drink well from Burgundy if you know where to look.

Jérôme Galeyrand Antonin Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2017
In this offer, you’ll get five bottles of the 2017 Antonin. Made from .08 hectares of biodynamically grown vines located in Chambolle Musigny, Brochon and Gilly-lès-Cîteaux (near Vougeot). Jérôme Galeyrand produces less than 500 cases a year of his superb Antonin Bourgogne Pinot Noir. The grapes are 100% de-stemmed then macerated for 3-5 days before a wild yeast fermentation over 18-20 days which is followed by 16 months maturation in oak barrels (20% new). Energetic and with a mix of red and black fruits, this silky, fruit-driven and delicious entry-level red burgundy can be enjoyed now and over the next 3-5 years.

Jérôme Galeyrand La Justice Gevrey-Chambertin 2015
You’ll also receive a bottle of La Justice 2015 (valued at $110 per bottle). The La Justice lieu-dit (think of this is as single-vineyard village wine) sits just below the village of Gevrey and is considered one of—if not the—best lieu-dits in Gevrey-Chambertin. Jérôme Galeyrand's vines in La Justice were planted in 1946-1947 and Jérôme describes his wine as being a 'subtle' Gevrey that can be approached in its youth, even in a vintage as powerful as 2015. A small amount of whole bunch was used during fermentation and the wine spends 16 months in 228 litre barrels (20% new). In Galeyrand's hands, this superb medium-bodied wine has both purity of fruit and Gevrey structure and can be enjoyed now and over the next 7-10 years.

Region Burgundy

Burgundy is renowned for producing some of the most elegant and sought after wines of the world. Spread over 230km with 50,000 ha of vineyards and over 110 different appellations, the region resembles a veritable patchwork quilt of vineyards. The principal grape varieties of the region are Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Gamay. Burgundy’s climate is northern continental, ranging from cool marginal conditions in Chablis in the north to the warm climate of Beaujolais on its southern boundary. The classic “Burgundy” wines come from the central part of the region known as the Côte d’Or. Burgundy has a hierarchical classification system based on the quality of the vineyard site. The best vineyards are “Grand Cru” and are usually located on the slopes with the most favourable aspect and soils. Premier Cru (1er Cru), Village and generic Bourgogne wines follow in descending order. There are 30 Grand Cru vineyards mostly located in the Côte d’Or and over 560 Premier Cru sites.
