If you like your Shiraz with oomph, if you like texture, and body, and a palate that knocks you down with sheer intensity, then this McLaren Vale pack is for you. Access 11 bottles of 2014 Geoff Merrill Jacko’s Blend Shiraz for $242 (RRP $330), and get a BONUS 2015 Tintara Single Vineyard Blewitt Springs Shiraz (RRP $80).
Geoff Merrill Jacko’s Blend is a memorable affair for McLaren Vale fans. There’s no by-halves attitude in this deft winemaking. Six years of age, 29 months in new and seasoned American and French oak hogsheads and puncheons. The oak—naturally—paves the way for deep, dark fruit, black pepper, warm spice, and ripe tannins.
Your bonus Tintara single vineyard makes a striking impression, too. Solid and spicy, perfumed and seductive, if the Jacko’s Blend is knock-your-socks-off, the Tintara peels them off, inch-by-inch, to reveal lashings of complex spice and savoury notes, silky texture, and gently gripping tannins.
At $242, with a combined RRP of $410, you’re saving 40% when you buy a case of Geoff Merrill Jacko’s Blend replete with your bonus Tintara Single Vineyard Shiraz.
"It is gorgeously fruited and aromatic on the nose showing blackberry, dark plum, vanilla and cedary oak characters with nuances of toasted spices. The palate delivers lovely concentration and weight, together with supple mouthfeel and fleshy texture. It is up front and flavoursome, loaded with delicious flavours. At its best: now to 2028. "

"Matured in new and used American and French hogsheads for 29 months. The oak plays a major role in shaping the aromas and flavours of this old style, full-bodied shiraz. What is certain is its staying power."

"Blewitt Springs and shiraz. Always a combination worth looking out for.
It’s perfumed. It’s silken. It’s all black cherry and plum, blueberry and cloves. It glides through the mouth with consummate ease; it’s rich but it’s not overdone. Tannin is silty and seductive; yes seductive. Everything here is in perfect balance and that is itself is a pleasure to behold."

"Deep, bright red/purple colour. The bouquet is oaky and fresh, youthful and bright but smelling mostly of savoury oak and regional fruit combination. The wine is very full-bodied, solid and big-boned, with concentration and tannin grip aplenty. A monster. One to put away in the cellar for ideally a decade of slumber."

"So far as I am concerned, Blewitt Springs is by some distance the best district in McLaren Vale, its sand over clay soils, aspect and elevation produces shiraz (and grenache) that is finer yet more intense than that of other districts with vines of comparable age (old or young). This is a northern Rhone lookalike, with a spicy savoury background to its beautifully structured and textured palate , full of spice, purple and black fruits and fine tannins."
