Excellent retention of purple-crimson hue; a very smart wine for this little-known GI, its best wines make you pull up short. This wine's texture, structure and cassis-accented varietal character are all excellent.

The star variety in the stable, and a step up from the other Bordeaux varieties and blends. This is sourced predominately from the older planting circa '74-'88. Dark purple-red, opulent ripe black fruit, a hint of mint and leaf with matching levels of spice and toast from 18 months in 43% new oak. Tannins are fine gravel. Concentrated, dense yet composed. Should age well.

Includes 15% Great Southern cabernet. A pretty synergistic blend (which might be equally synergistic if the percentages were reversed). Lots of generous blackcurrant/cassis, soft tannins, good balance.

85% cabernet sauvignon, 7% merlot, 4% merlot and 2% each of malbec and old vine matured for 10 months in French oak (30% new). It's bred in the purple, but needs 5-10 years to fully reveal the inherent balance and finesse of the blackcurrant fruit and green olive flavours. Value++.

This is classically expressed on the nose showing cassis, dark plum, tobacco and cedary oak characters, leading to a concentrated palate that is supple and lingering. It is wonderfully composed and harmonious with fabulous fruit intensity backed by fine, chalky tannins, finishing long and delectable.

This is immensely appealing on the nose showing creme de cassis, plum, cigar box and floral characters with a touch of pepper spice. The palate delivers excellent weight and concentration, superbly complemented by fine texture and chalky tannins. Wonderfully composed and structured.

Lots of leafy character to this fresh and bright cabernet with currant and cement undertones. Medium body, fine tannins and a crisp finish.

Lovely style of wine here. It’s restrained, perfumed, has a good amount of flavour in the cherry and redcurrant spectrum, a kiss of vanilla and spice oak, a dusty gently herbal Cabernet profile, freshness, and fine length. Good now, and good later too. A delight.
