From Serafino's best vineyards, closed fermenters with pumpovers, matured for 12 months in French and American hogsheads (25% new). The varietal expression of cabernet runs strong and pure in this wine, reaffirming the symbiotic connection with place. It's medium-bodied, cassis flows freely in its veins, and the tannins are just as they should be.

Crimson-red colour with paler red edges. Complex aromatics - spicy, savoury elements, mushrooms and hummous, red licorice and black cherries, toasty oak. It's beautifully ripe, red cherries with a delightful bruised-apple fleshy character. Definitely set to flourish with time in the bottle. Delicious now.

Matured in new and used American and French hogsheads for 29 months. The oak plays a major role in shaping the aromas and flavours of this old style, full-bodied shiraz. What is certain is its staying power.

High quality clones, hand-picked, crushed and destemmed, fermented in tank with wild and cultured yeast, matured in French oak (25% new) for 10 months. Small wonder that my head snapped back when I tasted the wine before reading the vinification notes - it's fresh and juicy right through to the mid-palate, before some of the complexity makes its appearance. A vintage response.

Light herbal aroma, a touch of straw and haybale, a hint of stone fruit too. The wine is flavoursome and rich, without sacrificing delicacy. There is a rumour of some residual sugar but also ripe fruit flavour. There's a touch of nutty barrel-ferment here as well. The oak has been sensitively handled. The finish is clean and dry and it lingers well. A smart wine.

Offering classic varietal purity combined with rich complexity, the wine shows crème de cassis, blueberry, bay leaf and spicy oak aromas on the nose, leading to a wonderfully weighted palate that’s impressively structured and persistent. Hugely appealing.

Very sour cherry orientated bouquet, almost citrusy notes, high toned florals and green herb. Palate is similar, minty-green and sour cherry notes, cool acidity, a starburst of blood orangey acidity to close. Nice texture, slips over the palate well, tannins shapely and a fine, squeaky finish. Just that greener spectrum vibe might catch you. I quite like all this. It’s very ‘Australian cool climate whole bunch-y’ in style, even if it isn’t (tasted blind).

"It is gorgeously fruited and aromatic on the nose showing blackberry, dark plum, vanilla and cedary oak characters with nuances of toasted spices. The palate delivers lovely concentration and weight, together with supple mouthfeel and fleshy texture. It is up front and flavoursome, loaded with delicious flavours. At its best: now to 2028. "

It’s a juicy one this year, offering plenty of peach and pear flavour, a little oatmeal, cashew and cinnamon, but with a pink grapefruit tang. It’s flinty and spicy, a ball of flavour that pulls longer, and tighter on the finish. There’s a little struck match complexity and a whole lot more than a little in terms of enjoyment. It’s very good drinking already.

A portion of the semillon here spent time in oak. It's an enjoyable white blend, pitched to a tee, with lemongrass and riper fruit flavours shooting deliciously through the palate. Intensity is set to medium, texture isn't forgotten, and general appeal is set to high.
