The Vinedos Viejos Mencía is made from handpicked, 100% Mencía fruit sourced from 60-75-year-old vines planted at 450-580m above sea level.
Very ripe black cherry coloured. Scented with red and black fruit, spices, toasty with an earthy and balsamic background. Full-bodied, rich and velvety, lingers on the palate with pleasant silky fruity notes.
Cool pre-fermentation macerated for 3-5 days at 4-6ºC followed by a week-long (or more) fermentation. 10-25 days of further maceration precedes further Malolactic fermentation takes 5-9 days which is followed by 12 months in French oak barrels and 12 months in bottle. Recommended 5-10 years in the cellar.
