pape clement

Chateau Pape Clement located in Pessac Léognan is part of Bernard Magrez’s stable of estates. The 32.5 ha vineyard is planted to Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot on gravel, sandy and clay soils. Fruit is handpicked and hand sorted before undergoing a cool pre-ferment maceration and whole berry fermentation in wooden vats. Each parcel is fermented separately. The wines are manually punched down and run off into 100% new French oak barriques where they mature for 18-20 months. Bernard Magrez is credited with turning around quality at the Chateau, including introducing rigourous vineyard selection and implementing state-of-the art winemaking. As a result, Chateau Pape Clement is now considered one of the finest producers in Pessac-Léognan.

comte georges de vogue

Comte Geoges de Vogüé is by far the most significant producer in Chambolle-Musigny. Since 1766, ten generations have farmed their vineyards, which now total over 12 Ha, including over 80% of the Grand Cru of Musigny. Le Musigny is without question one of the very greatest of the Grand Crus of Burgundy and is famed for its combination of richness, power and finesse. And if you want to go on a 'Moose Hunt', you simply have to have Vogüé on the table! Generally a slightly more elegant expression is the Grand Cru of Bonnes Mares at the northern boundary of Chambolle, bordering the Grand Cru of Clos de Tart in Morey-St-Denis. These are utterly profound wines, as evidenced by Antonio Galloni's reviews.
