<p>One of the most famous appellations in the region, Pommard is known for producing full-bodied, robust and tannic wines. The second biggest area by production after Beaune, approximatly 135 ha of vineyard area is Premier Cru of which Les Epenots and Les Rugiens are the most renowned.</p>

chateauneuf-du-pape

The most famous appellation of the region with a history of viticulture dating back to 1308, Châteauneuf-du-Pape is renowned for producing complex, spicy, full-bodied red wines of power and concentration. Up to 18 different varieties can be employed to make wine in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, but the vast majority of the red wine blends are still dominated by varying proportions of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. The greatest wines of the appellation can cellar for well over two decades. A smaller amount of complex, fuller bodied white wine, blended from Grenache Blanc, Rousanne, Clairette and Bourboulenc is also made.

pessac leognan

<p>Though wine has been made in <strong>Pessac-L&eacute;ognan</strong> since ancient Roman times, it was only in 1987 that the neighbouring villages of Pessac and L&eacute;ognan were singled out from the surrounding Graves region and given their own appellation. The designation acknowledges that Pessac-L&eacute;ognan is home to the most acclaimed properties of Bordeaux&rsquo;s Graves region, such as the Premier Cru Ch&acirc;teau Haut-Brion.</p>
