Lovely colour, bright and vibrant in the glass. Really complex aromas of smoked meats, Asian spice, white pepper, dark cherry, graphite and bramble. Fresh, textured, bright and lively on the palate. Vibrant blue fruits, sarsarparilla and briar; savoury, textured tannins and crunchy acidity. A lovely cooler climate shiraz with real sophistication and personality.

There's a splash of white pepper but essentially it's a fruit-driven, attractively textured, mid-weight red with cherry-plum flavours in the driving seat. Peppercorn notes and spice-shot tannin finish things off nicely. Not a foot wrong.

I’ve seen this wine a few times now and each time it’s caused me to pause and stare off into the distance. My first impression is that I like it, because its white/black peppery and I’m a sucker for that. It’s also mid-weight, another positive, and feels vigorous, or confident, or both. There are undergrowth and deli-meat aspects and while it’s all about the fruit and the spice, that meaty/bunchy turn is a key part of it. What makes me pause is the finish. It’s taut and dry, almost-but-not-quite drying. There’s still plenty of pepper through the aftertaste but it will be interesting to see whether this dries more over time or whether it fleshes and expands.

This has a wealth of pepper and blackcurrant, as well as some blackberries and spicy, leafy notes. The palate is medium-bodied with a wealth of blueberry and blackcurrant flavors. Good value here. Drink now. Screw cap.
