LANGTONS Classic Glaetzer 6 pack II Shiraz, Langhorne Creek, Barossa Valley MV Case
About this wine
LANGTONS Classic Glaetzer 6 pack II Shiraz, Langhorne Creek, Barossa Valley
Heartland’s Director’s Cut Shiraz is sourced from mature vineyards in Langhorne Creek, an area long known for producing Shiraz with depth and structure. The fruit is selected from low-yielding blocks, many dry-grown, with a focus on ripeness and concentration. Ben Glaetzer leads winemaking. Fermentation occurs in small open fermenters with regular pump-overs, followed by ageing in a mix of French and American oak, around 60% new. The style aims to capture the power of Langhorne Creek Shiraz without sacrificing balance. Expect dark plum, blackberry and liquorice on the nose, with spice notes and cocoa. The palate is full and structured, showing firm tannins and a long finish. While drinkable on release, it will hold comfortably in the cellar for a decade or more. Director’s Cut sits at the top of the Heartland range and has developed a loyal following for its consistency, value and cellaring ability.

Excellent hue and depth, an early harbinger of a very good vintage, the bouquet and palate living up to the promise. It is a broad-shouldered, luscious and rich wine, borrowing some dark chocolate from McLaren Vale, adding licorice and plum fruit flavours.

This shows notes of plums and blueberries with sweet spices, cocoa, wet stones and some minty undertones. Full-bodied. It is structured and focused with super fine, polished tannins that are melted into the wine. Long and even. Rich but shows freshness and poise. Shiraz. Unfiltered. Drink or hold.

50-130 year old vineyards, yield at 2 tonne/hectare. 100% Barossa Shiraz, 100% new oak.
Asphalt, anise, blackberry and roasted plums. Clove, peppercorn and mint as well, but this wine is characterised by the sizeable wave of sweet, super-ripe fruit that it delivers, upfront and ready to be enjoyed. Tannin is fine and the finish is satisfying.

Two thousand and twenty-one is a fascinating vintage of Amon-Ra that will surprise some thanks to its subtle style. Dark cherry, fruit pastilles and raspberry compote aromas are lifted by subtle spice and sweet oak. It's compact yet fleshy, with fresh acidity and silky tannins while still delivering trademark length and balance. A delicious Barossa but best enjoyed over the medium term.

Shiraz sourced from vines between 50 to 130 years of age in the renowned northern Barossa subregion of Ebenezer; 16 months in new French and American oak. A wine of impact and purity. Beautiful ripe black plum, cassis and black cherry fruits with hints of cedar, baking spices, dark chocolate, licorice, nutmeg, espresso, earth and graphite. Power and harmony writ large with cascading tannin, lacy acidity and great depth and concentration ... I feel it needs one of those big, old Batman-style 'KAPOW!!' boxes for emphasis. It's a cracker.
