LANGTONS Seppelt Jaluka and Vasse Felix Heytesbury Chardonnay 12 Pack MV Case
About this wine
Seppelt Jaluka and Vasse Felix Heytesbury Chardonnay 12 Pack - Save 38%
In this 12-pack pack, we present two fine wines to indulge and explore. The 2019 Jaluka Chardonnay from Seppelt comprises some parcels from Seppelt's prized Drumborg Vineyard, established in 1964. Excluding cool-climate class, the Jaluka (named after Victoria's Jaluka Forest) shows white peach and citrus fruit with a note of well-judged oak. This scores high on drinkability, which is lucky as there are ten bottles in this case. LANGTONS Classified Vasse Felix's Heytesbury Chardonnay, Margaret River 2022, epitomizes excellence. Crafted from select parcels, it undergoes natural fermentation with lees stirring in French oak, resulting in a vibrant, acidity-driven expression. A fine vintage.
In this twin pack, you'll find
10 x Seppelt Jaluka Chardonnay, Henty 2019
2 x Vasse Felix Heytesbury Chardonnay, Margaret River 2022

Campbell Mattinson
It’s restrained, fine, a touch flinty and attractively textural, but the real fanfare is through the finish. This wine prosecutes its case in full. It tastes of stonefruit and tonic, grapefruit and cedar, with smoked herb and flint notes as whispers. It’s tight but it still manages to sing long. There are elements of both steel and chalk to the aftertaste, which add yet more to this wine’s loveliness.

If one wine typifies the current state of Australian chardonnay (complex, superfine, detailed and majestic) as much as a wine of place, Heytesbury could possibly be it. There’s a lot of fruit power this vintage, yet still, a tightly coiled style in youth. A millefeuille of flavour – grapefruit, lemon salt, white nectarine and complex savoury nuances, the oak and lees folded into the wine. There’s an intriguing zinc character too, a little flinty and funky with mouth-watering acidity. Moreish and compelling all the way through. Mesmerising.

Sleek, taut and bursting with energy and succulence, this is excellent Chardonnay. A real thoroughbred, standing head and shoulders above all else in the tasting. A Jura-like washed rind note melds with curry leaf, quince and orchard fruits. Stony phenolics are bound to an intense saline lick to finish. Chiselled, vibrant and poised. So beautiful to drink. Reminiscent of something from the Jura, married to the ebullient fruit of Australia. Scintillating stuff that will age so very well.

A complete package, the 2022 Chardonnay Heytesbury differs markedly from the Estate release from the same vintage with a tighter more composed shape and layered nuances. Crushed nuts, pear and flowerpress aromas are seamlessly intertwined with fine grained oak and smoky gunflint. An excellent upfront generosity of flavor takes a more savory refined line, punctuated by tangy acidity. Length is exceptional and this will build further in time.
