About this wine
Picardy Pemberton Shiraz
Dan Pannell is excited about the potential in Pemberton to produce a cool climate style Shiraz and uses Pinot Noir techniques including a cold pre-fermentation maceration, a small percentage of whole bunches in the ferment and hand plunging. To give the wine some mid-palate sweetness and to add complexity, Picardy Shiraz also includes around 4% Malbec and 2% co-fermented Viognier. The result is a wine with more spice and perfume than it's Margaret River counterparts but not as dense or as powerful as those from the Great Southern. Think Crozes-Hermitage in style and a wine that can be enjoyed now and over the next five or so years.
