James Suckling
PAOLO CONTERNO Ginestra Barolo
Give this plenty of air, because it’s showing lots of upfront muscle for now with almost salty savoriness to the ripe red-fruit and rose-hip aromas. You get a better idea of the sweet red fruit on the palate. Medium-to full-bodied with firm oak and fruit tannin and a savory finish. This is a tough nut that needs plenty of time to soften and integrate. But well worth the wait. Best after 2024.

SOTTIMANO Nebbiolo Langhe DOC
The 2022 Langhe Nebbiolo is Barbaresco in all but name because of its slightly earlier release. Crushed flowers, spice, tobacco, cedar and bright Nebbiolo acids are nicely delineated. In 2022, the Langhe Nebbiolo has a bit more mid-palate richness than in most years, but that is not a bad thing for a wine meant to be enjoyed over the near and medium term.
