About this wine

Château Rayas Réserve Châteauneuf-du-Pape

Château Rayas Réserve is one of the Rhône’s most singular wines. Made entirely from Grenache, it comes from 10 hectares of north-facing vines grown on sandy soils—an unusual site within Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The Reynaud family has worked this land for generations, and the approach remains resolutely traditional: hand harvesting, whole-bunch fermentation, no destemming, and ageing in old foudres. No new oak is used, and the wine is bottled without fining or filtration.

Rayas is known for its aromatic lift and textural finesse. Each vintage shows red cherry, wild strawberry, garrigue and spice on the nose, with a supple, detailed palate and a long, savoury finish. It ages well but is never about weight—it’s about perfume, balance and quiet intensity. Production is small, and demand comes from collectors worldwide. Among Rhône wines, there is nothing quite like it. Rayas remains a benchmark for its style and consistency over time.

ABOUT THE WINERY
Chateau Rayas
Chateau Rayas is a family owned estate in Châteauneuf-du-Pape considered one of the super-stars of the region. It was made famous by the legendary winemaker Jacques Reynaud and now continues under the management of his nephew Emmanuel. The estate comprises 13 hectares of north facing vineyards on sandy soils with chalk patches, planted with low yielding Grenache bush vines. Alongside the renowned red Châteauneuf-du-Pape, the estate also produces a second wine called Pignan and a white Châteauneuf-du-Pape produced from Grenache Blanc and Clairette.
