CHARLES HEIDSIECK Brut Reserve, Champagne NV Bottle
About this wine
Charles Heidsieck Brut Reserve, Champagne
Charles Heidsieck is often cited as the "insider’s" Champagne, favoured by those who value substance over marketing flair. This Brut Réserve stands apart through its composition: 40% reserve wines with an average age of ten years. While most houses prioritise fresh turnover, the Heidsieck method focuses on depth and texture. The fruit is sourced from 60 specific crus, blended in equal parts of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Meunier to ensure consistency and weight.
The winemaking relies on long-term maturation. The wine spends over three years on lees in 2000-year-old chalk cellars (crayères), far exceeding the legal minimum. This extended contact produces a complex nose of toasted brioche, sun-drenched apricots, and pistachios. On the palate, expect a precise balance of red apple and citrus, delivered with a fine, persistent bead and a textured, creamy finish. It is a Champagne of remarkable structure, suited as much to a meal as it is to a celebration.
