Shingle Beach is one of Terra Sancta’s three single-block Pinot Noirs, drawn from a close-planted vineyard on Felton Road that sits above the Kawarau River on schist and limestone, giving a clear, stony edge to Bannockburn fruit. Farmed with an organic and regenerative mindset, the low, dense vines deliver concentrated bunches that are handled with a light touch in the winery: wild ferments in large oak, no additions, and bottling without fining or filtration to keep the character of the site front and centre. The result is a Central Otago Pinot Noir that carries fragrant red fruit and florals with spice and mineral drive, backed by fine acidity and a supple frame, a style that has drawn strong praise from leading critics, including up to 96–99 points for recent vintages from James Suckling and high 90s from The Real Review.
