About this wine

8 Songs Shiraz is part of Peter Lehmann’s Masters range made to highlight top tier examples of original classic Barossa varietals. Fruit for the Shiraz comes from several distinct sub-regions in the Barossa Valley, from low yielding old vines. The fruit sees an extended maceration on skins combined with partial barrel fermentation, and then is matured in French hogsheads for 18 months. A rich and velvety wine, 8 songs typically shows ripe tannins framed with plush black fruit overlaid with fruitcake and brown spice notes.

ABOUT THE WINERY
Peter Lehmann
The late Peter Lehmann (1930-2013) was one of the most important characters in the Barossa. The son of a Lutheran pastor, Lehmann kept the spirit alive during periods of severe economic downturn. His reward was access to some of the very best fruit in the Barossa Valley. Today the winery owns some of the best vineyard land in the Barossa including the famed Stonewell Vineyard. However this only amounts to a tiny amount of total production. The winery relies hugely on the trust, loyalty and friendships that have been built up with numerous independent growers over many many years. The winemaking team headed up by Andrew Wigan represents a blend of traditional thought and modern practice. Over the years Peter Lehmann has evolved as a significant Barossa wine producer with a multi-layered portfolio of wines, all of which offer superb value. Since 2002 Peter Lehmann Wines has been a member of the Hess Group.
